Your ring master has seen both the good and the bad sides of the publishing business. In 1994 William Pattison had four novels published, under the name Eric Morse. But the books, which were based on the FRIDAY THE THIRTEENTH film series, failed. They failed because of lack of advertisement and lack of reader interest.
But, William didn't let failure stop him. For the next eight years he worked on another project he'd been working on even before the F13 novels. That project was his original science fiction novel, THE TRAVELER:A CONFLICT OF INTEREST.
After finishing the novel William decided to see if people found this original work intriguing. Unfortunately, he found that people were more interested in reading fan fiction over anything they didn't know. William even web published a number of his own fan fiction works, including with them a link to THE TRAVELER sneak preview site. But this didn't improve his hit figures..
So,William decided to do some homework and find out if other original fiction writers were having the same problems. His results were for the most part disheartening. He found that only a few sites were getting any real notice.
But when he dug deeper into the issue he found out that the sites that were getting the most notice were the ones that were easiest to find. This due to their wide exposure through search engines, link pages, top ten sites, and banner exchange.
Thus, came the idea that became this webring.
After checking the webring hosts for original fiction, he found out that the only original fiction webrings were dedicated to established writers, and the only amature works were strictly in the realm of fan fiction. So, William decided he'd try to bring those few brave first time original fiction writers together and show the fan fiction writers what people with original ideas can do....
